Come and Take It

Celebrate an enduring symbol of freedom and defiance. This design draws inspiration from the Battle of Gonzales in 1835, the opening conflict of the Texas Revolution. When the Mexican military demanded the return of a bronze cannon, the Texian militia defiantly refused, declaring, “Come and take it.” In response, Sarah Seely DeWitt and her daughter, Evaline, created a flag featuring a hand-drawn cannon with the words COME AND TAKE IT.
